The Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ) has officially announced a temporary driving restriction for goods vehicles in conjunction with the Chinese New Year 2026 celebration.
This measure aims to ease traffic congestion and enhance road safety during the festive season.
The driving ban will take effect on the following dates:
14 February 2026 (Saturday)
15 February 2026 (Sunday)
21 February 2026 (Saturday)
22 February 2026 (Sunday)
During these dates, specified categories of goods vehicles will not be allowed to operate on public roads.
According to JPJ’s official notice, the restriction involves selected categories of goods vehicles and types of cargo, including but not limited to:
Heavy goods vehicles
Lorries transporting construction materials
Vehicles carrying industrial raw materials
Any goods vehicles not officially listed as exempted
All goods vehicles that are not specifically stated as exempted are strictly prohibited from operating during the restriction period.
Transport companies and lorry drivers are advised to:
Plan delivery schedules in advance
Adjust loading and unloading arrangements
Verify their vehicle category
Fully comply with JPJ regulations
Failure to comply may result in penalties, delays, or operational disruptions.
Businesses involved in freight transportation are encouraged to arrange deliveries earlier to avoid disruptions during the festive season.
